A great work ethic for the Wrexham side

Northop Hall Dev 3-2 W2s
Away game day in Chester against local rivals Northop Hall. This late in the season, both teams were suffering with not producing a full team. In the first half, 5 mins in, Wrexham managed to gain a short corner and then again 5 mins later. Sadly no conversion on either. With the younger players; Hattie, Bethan and Sophie leading the front, they were taking every opportunity going and pushing forward. Approximately 24 mins in, Wrexham managed to slot in a goal, with the support of a couple of borrowed NH players, Bethan T taking the last touch for Wrexham. In the final few mins, Gemma Phelps holding the middle, ran with the ball from half way all the up towards the D and scored an excellent open play goal. Another attempt at goal by Hattie, but saved and deflected away by the GK. In the last minute of the first half, the ball was turned over and was down the other end. Our keeper Laila made a fantastic effort on the first save but the first Northop goal came from the rebound. The restart was strong as Bethan T was on another run with Gemma P and Alisha coming up from the defence for support. Three successive shots were made at goal but all saved by the NH keeper, third time unlucky on this occasion. Half-time score was 2-1 in favor of Wrexham.
Second half, with a change in borrowed players and changes in positions, Northop had the stronger start with two short corners within the first 10 minutes. The second resulted in a goal, equalising the score at 2-2. Despite the efforts of Alisha, Gemma P and Gemma B in defence trying to keep the ball out, NH eventually took the lead with a goal making it 3-2. Wrexham managed to come back, produce some more lovely runs up field and ended up gaining another few short corners during the half. Wrexham were missing some of the regulars making SCS tricky but the players played on. A bit of drama occurred near the end as a “borrowed” NH player inadvertently pushed the ball away, giving the umpire cause to give her a green card. The game finished with a final score of 3-2 to Northop. It was a close and competitive match! Great moments from both teams contributed to an eventful game.

MDVLP 0-2 Northop Hall 3
Welcome to our game at home against Northop hall 3s on a very warm day for this time of year.
With 8 Wrexham players, Northop kindly lent three players to make it an even contest. Northop got the game underway, with an attacking force straight at the Wrexham defence but with some excellent defending from Dyfrig and Olly keeping them at bay. Wrexham then finally, had a excellent attack with a ball from defender Will Harris into Will Champion who then put it into Freddie’s path on the right wing who drove into the d and passed the ball onto the p spot for Simon to sweep it into the bottom corner but for the GK to make a great save. As the game moved along, there was some excellent defending from Keith and will h this time on the right and again some excellent saves by Oscar Polden. A shot though unfortunately just scrambled behind him after a great save for a northop player to tap it in making it 1-0.
Wrexham restarted the game with a solid attack down the middle into the left winger who passed it into Simon who crossed it into the d but Freddie just couldn’t get there in time half-time blows 1-0 to northop.

The game restarted with Northop swapping the three lads out for some new players for Wrexham which helped them out a lot as they went straight on the attack with Will C and Freddie combining down the right wing into Simon who put another cross in but no-one there to finish it off at the back post. Northop went up field and got a short corner which resulted in their second goal. As Wrexham restarted the game they were determined to score a goal at least with Simon puting the ball on a plate across to Will H he swiped it in towards goal but fair play, an excellent bottom corner save by the Gk kept his clean sheet intact. The game finished 2-0 to northop.

MOTM went to all 8 wrexham players for there effort and commitment and endless defending especially as it was a very warm day well done everyone ?????????

Captains view: it was one of our best performances as a dev team as I say always room for improvement for all of us heads up and move on to next week for our last away game of the season.?
